Panasonic's latest entrant into the crowded mid-range upright bagless vacuum segment is the MC-UL427 JetForce, a 14 pound, $149 vacuum with an all new hourglass-shaped dirt holder that's supposed to channel heavier debris out of the way to avoid clogs.

Panasonic debuted three new vacuums this weekend at the International Home and Housewares Show in Chicago. All three are bagless uprights that feature Panasonic's new "JetForce" technology, which uses an hourglass-shaped dirt holder to force large debris out of the way to reduce clogs and improve suction.
Of the new line of vacuums, the MC-UL427 is the bright purple flagship. It has a suggested retail price of $149.99, a retractable cord, an agitator shut off for cleaning hardwood floors and a wardrobe like Prince. We're looking forward to testing one in the lab, but if previous Panasonics we've tested are any indication of the MC-UL427's performance, this vacuum might be a force to be reckoned with among mid-range uprights.
